How the Microsoft Home Use Program Works
The Microsoft HUP requires participants to use an approved email address to activate the discount. This is the most effective way to verify someone works for the participating organization. So you will need to use your military email address, not a personal email address!

Step 2: Enter your approved email address, for Military members this would be your .mil email address, or similar. If you are having troubles with the Microsoft Home Use Program, you may need to contact Microsoft customer support.
Before you do that, try using a different military email address if you have one. For example, some military email addresses don’t work, such as @ship.navy.mil and many email addresses specific to deployed locations. When possible, use your branch of service’s main email address:
- Air Force (@us.af.mil), Army (@mail.mil), Marines (@usmc.mil), or Navy (@navy.mil).
Also, it is known that Coast Guard email addresses typically won’t receive incoming email from the Microsoft HUP. You will most likely need to contact Microsoft Customer Support.
